Port Adelaide young gun Zak Butters will undergo ankle surgery on Monday night after sustaining the injury in last week’s win over Richmond.
Scans revealed a syndesmosis tear for Butters who decided to go under the knife to fully repair the damage.
“They gave me two options with what I wanted to do,” Butters told SEN SA’s Kymbo and The Rooch.
“Not get surgery and keep it in a moon boot for a couple of weeks to try and heal itself, or get some surgery and hit it on the head.
“That way you know that when you come back it’s going to be all good and a steadier approach with the recovery.
“So I thought get some surgery and that way I know when I come back, I’ll be ready to go.”
